SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Student Accessibility Services. The Assistant Director of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) determines reasonable accommodations under ADA/504 laws for eligible students. As the leader of the SAS team, the Assistant Director is responsible for the administration and distribution of appropriate support programs from their team. The Assistant Director of SAS works collaboratively with a diverse population representing the entire campus community.
Responsibilities include:
- Determines accommodation eligibility for students with disabilities under ADA/504
- Coordinates and ensures equal access to programs and services for students with disabilities
- Reviews documentation to determine reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities
- Conducts intake appointments for new students
- Monitors compliance of ADA/504 laws
- Collaborates with Residential Life regarding requests for emotional support animals
- Supervises and supports Student Accessibility Services staff
- Assists with the planning and overview of assistive technology
- Provides referral services to internal and external support resources
- Meets with prospective students/parents to answer questions about accessing accommodations at the post-secondary level
- Represents the office at recruitment events
- Provides training to faculty and staff through classroom presentations, departmental meetings, and as requested by campus colleagues
- Collaborates with the appropriate campus partners including Instructional Design Specialist, Brockport Downtown, IT, REOC, to assist faculty and staff in implementing accommodations in the classroom
