Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Financial Aid Advisor. The Assistant Financial Aid Advisor is most often the point of contact between students and parents and the Financial Aid Office. The person in this role is responsible to respond to inquiries by telephone, in-person or via email, interpreting and explaining federal, state and institutional requirements and procedures. The Assistant Financial Aid Advisor is also responsible for the intake and reading of all incoming documents and forms. They are responsible to review them for completeness and accuracy including requests for clarification or modifications as necessary. They are also responsible for the scanning and indexing of all documents including supervising student employees in this task. They are responsible for the development/updates to policies and procedures relevant to their area of expertise. Finally, this position will assist senior staff in administrative duties for designated aid programs/procedures. This task will include serving as a staff resource, help in to develop materials and respond to in inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized institution by the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated experience in assisting with the processing of financial aid or advisement of students or relevant professional work experience.
• Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations or relevant experience.
• Ability to work effectively with students, public, college community and external constituencies, with an appreciation for cultural and group differences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a SUNY college setting.
• Experience with the Federal and/or NY State Financial Aid Program.
• Experience with the Ellucian software system or similar software systems.
• Experience with document imaging systems.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm
Salary and Benefits: $44,374 - $46,592
