Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for a Part-time Visiting Archivist. The person in this role will be responsible for accessioning, arranging, and describing items acquired by the Rose Archives in Drake Memorial Library at SUNY Brockport. The Rose Archives collects and makes available for use materials on the history and past practices of the college; it is open by appointment only. The collection includes materials in book format, VHS/DVD/cassette tapes, clippings files and photographs. College yearbooks, photos of sports teams, old newsletters and information on campus life are some of the more popular items requested.

The Visiting Archivist will make updates to the Rose Archives finding aid and work with colleagues to make this information available online. They will serve as the first point of contact for Brockport students, faculty, and staff with archives-related questions and oversee researchers within the Rose Archives. They will investigate and implement the Archive-It tool for digital preservation. They will identify interesting items from the collection and write engaging descriptions to feature in social media posts and other communications venues.

This is a part-time, temporary position. The Visiting Archivist will work 20 hours per week, negotiable between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday. This is a six-month position. Review of applications will begin immediately.
Minimum Qualifications:

• MA or MLS in Archives, Library Science, Museum Studies, or related field.
• Six months experience working in an archive setting.
• Ability to work independently.
• Attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the history of the Monroe County/Brockport area
• Familiarity with the history of SUNY Brockport
• Familiarity with Archive-It

Work Schedule: Variable
Salary and Benefits: $23.48 per hour
