Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is seeking a temporary Financial Analyst to join the Budget Office Team on a six-month appointment with the option for renewal. Reporting to the University’s Senior Financial Analyst, this temporary position will serve to support the daily operations of the Budget Office. In addition to routine office tasks, this position may assist in the completion of various University/SUNY reports. Serving in this role, the Financial Analyst will have the opportunity to learn finance as it pertains to higher education and SUNY in a hands-on environment. Within the first six months, it is anticipated for the Financial Analyst to learn BI (Business Intelligence - Financial System Software) and be able to successfully complete 1:1 trainings with campus constituents as needed. The Financial Analyst will also be responsible for completing weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly tasks including journal transfers; updating systems for appropriate distributions, generating, analyzing, and formatting reports with various deliverables, and providing customer service in various formats (i.e. phone, email, etc.). The Financial Analyst will work with a growing team and at times, the Financial Analyst may be asked to perform duties to support the Director and Senior Financial Analyst of Budgeting and the Assistant Vice President for Finance and Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree by time of appointment, from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Ability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and take an active role in the position.
  • Ability and willingness to provide customer service and communicate with the internal team, campus constituents, and external stakeholders when needed.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability multitasking with a strong attention to detail either in a professional or educational setting.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with university and external constituencies, with an appreciation for cultural and group differences.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field by time of appointment, from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working in a SUNY higher education institution.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm
Salary and Benefits: The Minimum Salary for this Position is $55,000.
