Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for a Director of Strategic Advancement Communications. The person in this role will develop a strategic communications plan that utilizes best practices to engage SUNY Brockport alumni, donors, and friends with the university. Supervising one professional staff member and a team of student workers, this individual will be responsible for the all of SUNY Brockport’s Advancement communications platforms, including its website, social media channels, fundraising collateral, annual reports, and more. This individual will have a particular focus on the development and execution of a robust and engaging segmented email communication strategy.

The Director will also build and manage a comprehensive program to actively engage alumni in the university’s student recruitment efforts, and utilize analytics to make strategic recommendations on Division of Advancement and Communications initiatives – including recruitment marketing, website usability, alumni engagement, annual giving, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business or related field by time of appointment, from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Minimum five years of experience in Advancement, Communications, Marketing, or Alumni Engagement.
  • Experience generating effective and dynamic email marketing campaigns.
  • Experience managing web content.
  • Familiarity with popular social media channels.
  • Superior written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Higher Education experience.
  • Familiarity with web and email analytics.
  • Experience marketing to prospective students.
  • Experience editing the work of others.
  • Experience managing social media channels.
  • Knowledge of AP style.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4 pm
Salary and Benefits: The Minimum Salary for this position is $75,000.
