Job Summary: | SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for a “Accessibility Specialist” for Student Accessibility Services (SAS). This person will review documentation and verify disability eligibility to determine reasonable accommodations, determine eligibility for Housing Accommodations (including Assistance Animals); monitor Housing Accommodation expirations for timely and responsive renewals. Perform student disability interviews to determine requested disability services and accommodations with the supervision of the coordinator. Write accommodation letters for new students and code appropriately in Banner. Revise accommodations for students as needed by engaging in the re-evaluation process. Collaborate with faculty and University staff to provide accommodations. Facilitate interactive meetings with students and/or faculty who need support with accommodation implementation, accommodation review, accommodation compliance, self-advocacy, or overall problem-solving when students with disabilities need support accessing collegiate education. This person will also support compliance with ADA/504 laws by collaborating with faculty and staff on accommodation implementation, referring students/families to appropriate campus and community resources, meeting with prospective students and families regarding disability services, and collaborating with SAS staff to implement ongoing accommodations. Other job functions include researching innovative programming, overseeing the Academic Coaching Program focusing on executive functioning skills, providing accessibility/disability-related workshops for community and campus-wide stakeholders, attending community and campus tabling/recruitment events, partnering with other campus offices, supporting the Director to assist the University’s strategic goals related to accessibility, and assisting SAS team with other departmental functions. |

Salary and Benefits: |
